Place in Colombo
The Lotus Tower is a telecommunications tower beside Beira Lake and a prominent part of Colombo’s skyline. Its design is inspired by a lotus flower, and the tower is lit in changing colours at night.
The tower is visible from the Galle Face waterfront and from along Beira Lake.
Descriptions of the tower mention a telecommunications museum, exhibition halls, restaurants, conference halls and an observation gallery. What is open to the public changes, so check before planning a visit.
The lights can be changed in colour. It is best viewed on the ride back from Galle Face after sunset.
The tower stands in Colombo 01, on the Beira Lake waterfront, and was completed in September 2019. Sources disagree on the date it opened to visitors, so check recent information rather than relying on a single date.
On the Evening & Sunset Tour, the ride back through the city passes the tower as the lights come on.
